Trump Pressures House GOP to Pass Budget Blueprint by June 1

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump intensified pressure on House Republicans Monday, urging them to rapidly adopt a Senate-passed budget framework he described as critical to securing long-term funding for the country's immigration enforcement agencies.

Speaking directly to legislators, Trump made clear that aligning with the Senate's already-approved blueprint is the immediate and non-negotiable priority. "House Republicans must unify, and pass the same Blueprint to get the bill done," he declared on Truth Social, his preferred platform for political messaging, before laying out a firm legislative deadline: "I've asked for the final Bill on my desk by June 1, and we can make that deadline if we keep to the plan, fast and focused."

The push follows a significant move last week, when Senate Republicans advanced an initial measure to secure funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol through the remainder of Trump's term — doing so without a single Democratic vote.

That action is a cornerstone of a wider Republican strategy aimed at ending a partial government shutdown that has left the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) without appropriations since February 14, the result of a deepening partisan standoff rooted in sharp disagreements over immigration policy.

At the heart of the impasse lie Democratic demands for sweeping reforms to immigration enforcement practices, tensions that were dramatically heightened following fatal shootings involving federal agents in Minnesota in January. Democrats have conditioned their support on a package of oversight measures specifically targeting ICE operations, including prohibiting agents from wearing masks, mandating the continuous use of body cameras, and requiring officers to display visible identification at all times.

With the June 1 deadline now formally set, the coming days are expected to test whether House Republicans can maintain the cohesion Trump is demanding — or whether internal divisions will stall one of the administration's most politically charged legislative priorities.
